Alterations are my strongest asset. I am confident of my expertise with the most outrageous style change as well as the classic and traditional alterations that are needed for your bridal gown. A few of the more common alterations that I can perform (we will start from the top) are:
- Raising the shoulders or straps to make the bust line perfectly balanced. Changing the neckline to enhance the décolleté.
- Tapering the bodice to contour your torso.
- Adjusting the waistline, whether it is a natural waist, Basque waistline, or princess seams.
- Tapering or adjusting the skirt. (I can change the style; an example of this is a gathered skirt to a sleeker inverted box pleat style.)
- Bustles are Modern or French in style, with or without tiers. Most gowns have one to five points.
- Hemming the gown. (I pride myself on a perfect hemline, even on bias cut silk.)
There are several styles of hems with which I am facile: rolled hems, ball hems and back cross-stitch hand hems. There are many layers to most wedding gowns - including the crinoline - and all must be hemmed properly so the gown will drape naturally.
